Keystone falls in Senate

Senate Republicans learned what it is like to have no cooperation from the other side last night, as Democrats defeated the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. After six years of steady opposition, Democrats decided the Republicans should taste their own medicine.
The problem with the scorched earth politics that the right has practiced during the Obama presidency is it only works if you have no intention of leading the country. Reaching out to the other side is the only way to get things done. The Republicans have not done that, owing to factions in the base that could not compromise. Welcome to leadership.
