The Impossibility of Growth Demands a New Economic System | Common Dreams

Growth is not always good. Anyone who ever worked with a petri dish knows that, and this world we are riding on is simply a big petri dish. We have to find a balance that we never needed to look for until the twentieth century. We are consuming everything in our petri dish.

From George Monbiot.

To succeed is to destroy ourselves. To fail is to destroy ourselves. That is the bind we have created. Ignore if you must climate change, biodiversity collapse, the depletion of water, soil, minerals, oil; even if all these issues were miraculously to vanish, the mathematics of compound growth make continuity impossible.
