Can we speak truth in political campaigns?

If the suburbs were full of black folks, and the hood was all white, Southerners could understandably be pissed about the comments made by Mary Landrieu. The fact is, being black in the south has never been a piece of cake. The truth is, being a minority in America has never been easy. And Mary Landrieu’s point is lost in the larger truth, which is, any truth that is spoken on a campaign trail is probably not a good idea for a candidate in a close race. Which leads us to the awful truth. If a candidate cannot be honest and get elected, why do we blame politicians for lying to us?
