It is what capitalism does not wish to acknowledge; unbridled capitalism does not work. For years they claimed that laissez-faire capitalism would lift the world. In 2007, it very nearly created a Great Depression second only to the first Great Depression that it created.
Capitalism needs freedom, and it needs boundaries. It needs to be able to compete, and not run rampant. It needs an ethical under-pinning. It needs rules to live by. It also needs to evolve.
Not much of this is happening in the world of capitalism right now. Which is why regulation and oversight are still necessary, and may always be necessary.
Does this sound like left-wing socialism? It is common sense. History has shown us that business runs best when it plays by rules, and runs at its worst when the rules are removed.
